A structured and age-appropriate journey for every player in our club.

Overview

Kirkwood United’s development model is designed to support players from their first touch to competitive performance. Reflecting our heritage of purposeful movement and progression, this three-track pathway provides the right environment for every stage of a player’s journey.

White Track: Foundation Level

Begin your journey

Who it’s for: Kindergarten and 1st Grade players who are new to the game and just starting their soccer experience.

Focus: Introducing fundamental skills, having fun, building motor coordination, and learning basic game concepts.

Training: Age-appropriate, activity-based sessions that foster enjoyment and exploration.

Competition: Small-sided, in-house formats or local festivals designed for maximum engagement and touches on the ball.

Goal: Spark excitement for soccer and establish a strong base for future development.

Red Track: Development Level

Advance your journey

Who it’s for: Players in 2nd grade and up who are developing technically and seeking more structure and development opportunities but may also participate in other sports or activities. 

Focus: Growth in technical and tactical understanding with an emphasis on learning over results.

Training: Regular practices with opportunities for club-wide supplemental sessions.

Competition: Competitive local league matched to team ability.

Goal: Build readiness for higher levels of play and continue to grow a love for the game.

Black Track: Performance Level

Accelerate your journey

Who it’s for: Players with strong skills, high motivation, and commitment to advanced training and competition.

Focus: Player-centric training that emphasizes performance, positional understanding, and strategic thinking.

Training: High-frequency, high-intensity sessions with experienced coaches and curriculum alignment.

Competition: Challenging leagues and tournaments with opportunities for elite exposure.

Goal: Prepare players for highly competitive high school programs, potential college recruitment, and other advanced competitive pathways.

Movement Between Tracks

  • Players are evaluated and placed on the track that best fits their development stage, motivation, and commitment.
  • Transitions between tracks are supported and encouraged season to season when players show growth, readiness, or changing interests.
  • Club staff, coaches, and families collaborate to guide each player’s journey and ensure the best environment for their continued development.
